Beyond messaging, Status incorporates a non-custodial wallet that allows users to securely store, send, and receive Ethereum-based assets, including ETH, ERC-20 tokens, and NFTs. Users maintain full ownership of their private keys, ensuring that they have sole access to their funds without intermediary control. 
Status also serves as a gateway to the decentralized web, enabling users to interact with a variety of dApps directly through the platform. The governance of Status is community-driven, centered around the Status Network Token (SNT). SNT holders have the ability to participate in decision-making processes, influencing the development and direction of the platform. This includes voting on proposals, funding initiatives, and shaping the future of the Status ecosystem. The token also enables features such as the Tribute to Talk mechanism, where users can stake SNT to initiate conversations, reducing spam and enhancing meaningful interactions.
