The platform captured the majority of Ethereum NFT trading volume in 2023 through a zero-fee counter-positioning strategy against OpenSea’s incumbent fee structure. $BLUR is listed on Binance, Bybit, and Coinbase. Blur’s competitive strategy is… textbook contrarian positioning. OpenSea had built the NFT marketplace category with a 2.5% fee on every transaction. Rather than competing on feature parity, Blur eliminated fees entirely for traders while adding sophisticated trading tools — real-time floor sweeping, portfolio analytics, bid depth visibility — targeted at the professional and semi-professional NFT trader segment that OpenSea’s consumer-oriented interface underserved. By capturing professional trading volume first, Blur gained the liquidity advantage that then made it attractive to casual traders as well.
